# Formats and printing: project archive

Historical series have different proportions, pixel counts and color modes. For each work, see its own dossier and source PNG, rather than transferring the parameters of the new regional series to the whole archive.

## Size and resolution

The author's format in millimeters is set manually in the layout program. Scale the image proportionally, without independent stretching of width and height. Resolution is calculated using the formula: pixels / millimeters × 25,4. The DPI value in metadata does not create details and may be rounded.

For new regional exports, 3840 × 1152 px at 250 × 75 mm correspond to 390,144 ppi on both axes. If the source has a different size, the exact value is calculated separately. A mismatch in proportions requires a decision at the layout stage, not automatic stretching of the image.

## Color and transparency

RGB stores color without an alpha channel; white fields of such an image are pixels. RGBA stores color and an alpha channel. Transparent areas reveal the ceramic color. Screen HEX values describe the concept, not a printing ink recipe or an official brand standard unless established separately.

For printing use PNG, not WEBP. Profile, whites, bleeds, safe distance from the handle, transfer mirroring, and print area are determined by the specific mug template and production technology. Thermosensitive effect, metallic ink, and relief are not created automatically by ordinary PNG.

A test print on the chosen stock is needed to assess actual color, fine lines, and transparent gaps. An artistic pilot and an industrial print sample are different stages.
